Preparation prior 31st July 2007

what should we prepare before go to genting?

what time and where to meet up on 31st July 2007?

what should we wear on 31st July?

That day the HR manager said we must report ourselves on 31st before 2pm izzt? I think casual wear is ok... not very sure too

That day I have told Annie why not besides posting questions on the things to bring, we also post a list of those things we are bringing over so that others can have an idea on what to bring. Of course don't disclose that you are bringing your LVssss, Tag watch, diamond ring...lol

I think casual should be ok kua...don't care, all of us wear casual then not ok also will be ok

should we bring iron there? hahaa.. sounds stupid right? Rachael said last time Agnes told them there are laundry n ironing service for us once every week.. i wonder whether that is truth.. It will be great if thats true... Honestly im so lazy to wash my clothes .haha

Well, what else should we bring ? Erm.. Hanger? Kettle?? wah.. i think i really dont have any idea.. Well, i have a friend who just went to genting work on 1st july, i may try to ask her.

I will try to list out. But if i miss out others important goods. Pls add in. thank you!

Genting will provide a room with 2 beds with pillow, pillow case, blanket, bedsheet, wardbrobe.

a) We can bring our nice comfortal, bed sheet, pillow case n pillow.
b) Clothes
c) shower necessary


Do we need to bring items below?
a) Kettle
b) Iron
c) detergent - there is washing room but how much n will the machine provide detergent?)

i also think we need to wear casual wear is enough oledi... ...

For detergent,i feel that we must bring along coz we wan to wash our cloth too..last time,when i study at inti college,i also use the machanice to wash cloth,n the detergent is use our own one...

Hmmm... then what type of clothing leh?
i know must be formal.. But im not sure how formal they consider as formal..
Must have collar?
Anyway, i just bought myself a black blazer.. =)
Oh ya, that day Agnes said the black shoes must cover both front n back of our foot izzt ah?

Formal? I'm quite confused as whether we are wearing our own attire or we are wearing the uniform provided by them. I thought in casino everyone is weather the casino uniform?

Yeah, im not too sure about it too..
But i think we need to hv our own attire.

for my guy frend work at there,genting is provided a coat for he loh....but,for gal,i think need to buy ourself loh....

According to Agnes, we can bring TV, DVD player, whatever u like.

I just re-call that do we need to bring toilet paper? and since we hv to clean toilet, should we bring toilet cleaner as well?

I think we should bring clothes hanger.

As for the toilet cleaner, i think i wont bring . I will just buy 1 at the sundry shop at genting. haha..

Aiyoh so many things to bring. The past two times I went there for interview and briefing I took bus only, and this time I also plan to take bus. I think I will just bring the very minimum and see how. My bag sure koyak if I bring iron

1.well, basically, you need to bring Warm sweater at least 2 piece ( you don't want to always wear only 1 without washing...)

2.then secondly i suggest you bring your own blanket & casing, cux the one they provide 'smells' i only use it as my curtain

3.iron, detergent, softerner (if possible) is true there is ironing and washing services provided to us every week, but only ONCE a week and we only allow to send 6 pieces of dress & 2 coat for washing (for gals), 3 pieces of shirts & 3 pcs pant & 2 coat (for guys) is very limited and also you need to wait for 4 working days to collect .... so usually i only send my coat for drying ( sometimes i might wash myself too) other than that i wash myself cleaner and also to pass time too ...

4.if you want to drink cooked h2o... you must bring a kettle (electronic) we have no gas provided here, except you bring up your induction cooker ... hehe... but in the hostel we have water dispenser that provide hot&warm&cold water , but for those who are very very particular to drinking better bring kettle...

5.of course... daily stuff e.g. shampoo, showergel, toothpatse, toothbrush, hair gel, hair dryer, etc.... of course these thing you can get it up here, but expensive, ( i think is not worth it) but toilet roll....erm, may be 1 or 2 for temporary usage... ^.^

6. some working cloths lo.... not to fancy or party la ~

7. if you guys/gals are driving up, can bring some entertainment, e.g. dvds, tv, radio, or even or PS2

8. most important...TOWEL and HANGER, they do not provide us this...

9. Cups, plates, bowl, fork, spoon, chopstick (in case you ta pau back room to eat)

10. i have out of idea.... how about i answer question ??? is hard for me to describe in a row ...heehe ( actually i'm kinda lazy to think)

B4 2pm which means all of us will gather at HR dept at 1.50pm then, Agnes n Amanda will lead us to hostel?

Thanks Jessica for a very detail listing of the items to bring. I think if I were to bring all those then I have no choice but to ask my friend to take leave and send me up there.

Jessica is the hostel room safe from theft? You mention that we can bring those electronic entertainment stuff. I'm always worried is it safe. Any stories of theft or is it common there

hmm....theft issue?? so far i did not encounter such problem, but is all depends who you staying with, must be a trustful room mate of course... but i think since you guys& gals are staying at the exec quaters it shouldn't be a problem... and most of us will stay on the same building/ floor / room

If i remember correctly, we are asked to gather at the HR department on that day. Mayb we should just gather somewhere else be4 heading to the HR? So far, i dont think they mentioned our attire on the reporting day. Just wear casual la.. since we are not even started to work yet mah... if asked to wear formal the go to toilet and change, we have our luggage with us also.

Since we dunno wat to expect with the accommodation.. mayb we should just bring something like go for vacation. Next time only bring again lo. Here's some of my concerns;

1) Do have washing machine and dryer provided? if no dryer how to dry our clothes?

2) Do we need a lot of formal clothings? (I got the idea with minseng also.. we might just need to wear uniform)

I have the same concern as Daniel as well regarding formal clothes. Just wondering how many formal clothes to bring. If don't need it then I just need to bring 1 or 2 enough. Or else have to ta pau all my formal attire. And also do guys need to bring coat?

I also have concern on the washing machine and dryer's condition. Not sure whether it's working well and whether it will damage my clothes.

Great to hear that most of us will stay nearby. Hopefully all on the same floor. Then can knock at each other's door every now and then when feel bored. Hehe....thinking of college time again, quite fun actually keep disturbing others

well... we have washing machine and dryers available at the laundry area is not free to use , but is very cheap one washing round (45mins) is only RM2 and drying is 20sen/5min and spinning is 20sen/3mins.... usually i skip spinning and jump to drying ^.^ is faster

regarding about the electronic stuff, i think you guys shouldn/t bring up till you settle down, for me, till now, i do not have any TV but a small portable DVD with small screen (so that i can watch my dvds) and a laptop for entertainment (games & internet) fyi... no internet access are available in our hostel, either you go cyber cafe or coffee bean or you can apply your own stramyx line (but it have very complicated procedure)
I use to online in the cyber cafe, for staff only RM4/hour, and is flexi, you can use even 5mins or 10mins (with an account)

Actually still unsure of the procedures on 31st. They are not clear about that. As Jayne mentioned, what's the time we must reach?
Are we moving straight to hostel? Do we have to bring all our things along when we meet at HR? If we drive where shall we park our car? Can park at normal customer car park? Which car park is the nearest to our hostel?

Well... we are acyually using Maybank here, they will bank in our salary every 30th of the month, but we there is certain downtown Maybank we can’t use, For Jayne should take note, cux we both are from the both Kampung, cux my Penang Maybank they don’t accept here, I dunno about others, but for KL Maybank for sure can 1 la… Is true also there are no clear direction to us on the 31st… ehem, let me ask Agnes about it first then I get back to you guys ^.^ ok? As for the car park issue, actually we have staff carpark, but if the carpark is full we can park at the customer carpark (only certain ones) of course we can’t park in the gold / platinium parking,not even Managers
